Ethernet services underpinning broadband innovation

Ethernet

I'm pleased to share that Telstra Wholesale's Ethernet Access and Ethernet Backhaul products were recently recognised as the 'Most Innovative Wholesale Product or Service' at the World Broadband Forum in Amsterdam.

These two products underpin our next generation data portfolio, and have been enthusiastically embraced by customers since launch in August 2012.

The global Broadband Infovision Awards 2014 recognise our products' true end-to-end Class of Service, which lets you tailor service performance levels to the need of specific applications.

Our Ethernet products provide the most extensive national coverage in Australia, and enable you to deliver high quality data in more places, without having to link multiple diverse networks.

So why is Ethernet so important?

Ethernet is a reliable and cost effective platform for voice, data and video convergence. Ideal for unified communications connectivity, there are also many applications including :

  • retail stores who need virtual private network connectivity to their inventory systems
  • small and medium businesses who want internet, cloud, collaboration, video and voice over IP, or
  • large corporations who use it in their virtual private networks

Our Ethernet Backhaul is also ideal for service providers wanting to connect and carry traffic between Points of Presence, Telstra equipment building and/or data centres.

It can also be used by mobile operators for connectivity between mobile stations, hub sites and centralised Radio Network Controller (RNC) sites.

We've attained Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) CE 2.0 certification for our Ethernet products, ensuring that we're delivering global, best practice Ethernet services to our customers.
